Svetlana “Lana” Ostrowsky, Vice President of Charm City Optical and Founder of MyEyeGems.com, has been recognized by Vision Monday for her outstanding contributions to the luxury eyewear industry. In a featured profile, Ostrowsky was highlighted as a driving force in boutique optical innovation and personalized eyewear experiences.
With over 25 years in the optical field, Ostrowsky’s journey began in her family’s Baltimore optical shop. After holding corporate positions with Coty and Johnson & Johnson, she returned to her roots—ultimately transforming the family business into Charm City Optical, one of the East Coast’s premier Cartier eyewear retailers.
She later expanded her reach with the launch of MyEyeGems.com, a national platform combining luxury designer frames, personalized styling, and concierge-level care. The digital boutique has attracted a growing following of discerning eyewear lovers who value both fashion and precision optical care.
“In a world of chains and websites, we focus on relationships, fashion, and proper medical care—always investing, always evolving,” Ostrowsky told Vision Monday.
In addition to leading both a physical retail space and a successful online brand, Ostrowsky consults with emerging and established luxury eyewear companies on operations, brand strategy, and store design. Her unique blend of retail instinct, technical expertise as a licensed optician, and eye for high-end fashion positions her as a standout in the ever-evolving optical landscape.
“Learn endlessly, refine constantly, and accept nothing that isn’t the result of your own pursuit,” she said.
Lana credits her success not only to her own drive and vision, but to her late mother—whose belief in customer connection and craftsmanship laid the foundation for what Charm City Optical and MyEyeGems have become today.
